4.0 out of 5 stars Functions well, but design isn't my cup of tea, September 4, 2010

Customer Video Review Length:: 0:34 Mins

DESIGN: My main concern for not rating this kettle a 5 star kettle is the lever that you must switch back in order to pour. I prefer to press a lever on the handle or a Pick Me Up type. I shouldn't criticize this because I knew of this before I made the purchase, but it just adds a step to boiling water that I'd rather avoid.

COLOR: The main reason I bought this kettle was because of the BEAUTIFUL color. The color is just AWESOME! It really does add a retro touch to the kitchen. It is simply a beautiful piece of art sitting on your stove-top.

If you'd like check out the short video, I disprove 2 myths (whistle isn't loud, handle is hot) that I've read by other reviewers, and shows off the kettle in action.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty and Functional, July 4, 2006
By

I bought this tea kettle to add to my collection of pink KitchenAid appliances, but it turned out to be a really great purchase. The tea kettle is pretty in stainless steel and has only a touch of pink on the silicone handle. It has a loud noticeable whistle that lets you know when your water is ready and is easy to use and handle. I've read the other reviews that state that the pot gets overly hot, but that only happens if you use a grill size that is too large for the kettle. If you read the directions before use, it specifically says to use a burner compatible with the size of the kettle, this easily solves that problem. The spout is large and the kettle is easy to fill, whether throught the lid or the spout. Again, this is a KitchenAid product and has great waranty coverage and excellent customer service. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tea kettle with silicone handle - brushed steel version., July 16, 2006

I got my brushed steel Tea Kettle as a housewarming present, and I have not had any problems with it. It works great on both electric and gas stoves. The handle does get a little warm due to some heat transferance between the metal of the pot and the silicone, but I've never had to use any pot holders with it as it's never been uncomfortable. It pours smooth, is easy to use, and I like the fact that it has both a whistle that can be lifted up to pour and a removable lid so I can put tea bags directly inside the pot when it's finished boiling so I have a pot-o-tea. Easy to clean with that removable lid, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Larger than I expected ... compared to Chinese teapots, October 3, 2011

This review is from: GROSCHE Munich Glass stove top water and tea Kettle with included tea infuser, Stovetop safe, 1250 ml (42 fl oz) capcity
I've been brewing tea for a decade or two. Plus being Chinese everywhere I go I get tea, from restaurants to family gathering, it's all tea. I have several ceramic tea pots to brew expensive $100+ tea. I've even drink tea from VERY expensive collector's tea pots. I also purchased Zorijushi Hot Water Heater to help me brew tea faster. But after all that investment I still taste something in the water. Since the water for all those expensive tea pots still comes from a regular metal kettle.

So I went shopping online for something that won't leave an after taste in the tea. That's where Grosche Munic Glass Kettle comes in. I know it's glass and I was VERY doubtful that it would work. I thought glass was fragile and I would burn my hand on the handle. I was wrong. The handle cools down REALLY fast after I turn off the stove.

The glass is medical grade glass and was even examined by my husband who uses medical grade test tubes for science experiments every... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Smaller than expected, but does the job well, March 29, 2011

This review is from: GROSCHE Munich Glass stove top water and tea Kettle with included tea infuser, Stovetop safe, 1250 ml (42 fl oz) capcity
So far, I am enjoying this stove top glass kettle. I drink herbal brews that taste bitter if made in metal pots. This works great if you want to brew 2-3 cups of 8 oz. tea, but if you are planning to host more than 2-3 people, I recommend getting a larger kettle.

The glass appears thin, but is very sturdy. I am not the most careful person when washing dishes, so the things I wash tend to bump into nearby obstacles, and the borosilicate glass has held up very well so far. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little tea pot, May 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: GROSCHE Munich Glass stove top water and tea Kettle with included tea infuser, Stovetop safe, 1250 ml (42 fl oz) capcity
It's smaller than I was thinking, but it's still nice, especially since it's usually only me. As another reviewer said, it seems more fragile than it is. The infuser design surrised me, it simply has thin slits etched into it. I went beyond what it's designed for, and used it with Thai tea mix, which has a lot of fine particles in it, and should be brewed using a tea sock. I expected it to let a lot more particles trough than it did. Yes, a fair amount got through, but I'd also stirred the mix, which pushed more through. It did as well as the fine gold mesh tea infuser I have, I didn't expect it to do nearly that well. So the simple slits actually filter much beter than I imagined they would. I don't see there being any problems when using loose or flowering teas. I suppose the only thing i would change is to make the infuser sit lower in the pot for making a single cup of tea.

I didn't want a metal tea pot, and this works well for me, the fact that it comes with its own... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally!, December 2, 2005
This kettle fills a long-time need in the electric kettle marketplace -- one with a variable temperature control! For those who are real tea appreciators, you will appreciate finally having an electric kettle that allows you different temperature settings for your different kinds of tea.

Other great features are that it heats the water quickly, in under 5 minutes. It has an automatic shut-off when it reaches the set temperature. It will not boil dry (I haven't tested this feature, but the literature claims it to be true). It looks sleek and modern sitting on your countertop with its stainless steel and black stylings as compared to the white plastic electric kettles of yore. It also has the convenient design feature of the cord coiling into the base, so you only have to pull out as much as you need to reach your outlet.

I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple of reasons. Most importantly, because it gets hot hot hot to the touch. Be careful, or... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Convenient, Simple Design, April 7, 2008
I am a tea drinker and I find this appliance to be very useful. I drink green, oolong and pu-erh tea pretty much every day. I keep this little guy on a book shelf in my room where it is at a perfect height for me lift it up and set it down.

The temperature control knob is designed as a general guideline, and I love that boiling water isn't its' sole function. I mean, I drink green and oolongs too, so to boil water and wait is misused energy. It shuts off after reaching the desired temperature. I tweak the knob personally, as it is just a guideline.

Yes, the knob and kettle switch are not made of steel. They are in fact plastic. So please, don't start wrestling with your tea kettle. I know it's fun to use and it looks like a spaceship, but no wrestling...

If you combine this with a Brita filter, you have two of the best investments for tea for the rest of you life. It is wise to use filtered water in this utilitea, otherwise you risk... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 1/2 stars-- Does a great job, but missing bells and whistles., November 9, 2008

This review is from: Adagio Teas 3 UtiliTEA Variable-Temperature 30-Ounce Electric Kettle (Kitchen)
The UtiliTEA is an excellent electric tea kettle-- it's comes in two parts, the base and the kettle. The base plugs in, the kettle rests on top of it. Fill it with (up to four cups) of water, fit the kettle on the base, set the dial to the desired temperature, flip the switch and moments later, you've got hot water when the switch pops back up. I've used mine endlessly since I've gotten it.

A few gripes though, the UtiliTEA's temperature gauge is color coded rather than providing any kind of numeric indication and the manual. It's easy to use, but if you needed precision (and I don't), you won't be able to get it. More irritating is no real audible indication that it's done-- the lever clicks, but there's no whistle, bell or anything else you'll notice in the other room. Good news is, it's really fast, even to bring water to a boil. A final thing I dislike-- there's no "off" switch on the base and they recommend pulling the power cord between uses. I'm not certain...
