5.0 out of 5 stars Quick, easy and no mess, November 3, 2006

My wife bought one of these when we were vacationing in Eureka Springs a year ago, and I thought it was another gizmo to add to the cupboard. Was I wrong. I started using it more and more, mostly for green tea, and thought it would be good to have one for work as well. So I ordered one from Cooking.com and use it all the time. I just put the tea leaves in the container, add hot water, let it sit for 5 minutes, then set it on top of my cup. The valve on the bottom opens up and the tea pours into the cup, with out the leaves (with the green tea I buy from China, the leaves are full leaves, and I can get another 2 cups out of it, so refilling is easy). The nice thing is, I can use it for coffee as well as black tea. The coffee, especially if you grind your own, tastes so much better. To clean, I just invert in a trash can, and rinse out what's left.

A quick demonstration of the Ingenuitea teapot. We like the ease of use of this product and especially how easy it is to clean. We tend to not use tea bags and prefer loose leaf tea. This little infuser has us drinking tea more frequently. Watch how easy it is to make a nice cup of tea:

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the products that makes you say, "Oh! That's how it should be!", June 28, 2006

I got a pot of tea at a cafe recently and they served it up in an Ingenuitea. Within about 5 seconds, I realized this was the perfect way to make tea - or coffee, actually, and that this is how tea should be made. If you like loose tea and tea balls are awkward - not to mention hot to take out, etc. - the Ingenuitea is the BEST. No drip, no mess, no nothin'... simply tea. Ingenious, indeed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Electric Kettle, January 21, 2005
This review is from: Proctor Silex K2070Y 1 Liter Electric Kettle (Kitchen)
This Electric Kettle is quite simple without any frills. For the price, it does what it claims to do. It boils water quickly , the water level is easy to see and has the auto-shut off feature. I have used it reliably to boil water for tea, oatmeal etc. The water is quite hot, so use caution when pouring it out. The lid , can sometimes be hard to close & open.

5.0 out of 5 stars Faster & Hotter than Microwaving, June 15, 2006

This review is from: Proctor Silex K2070Y 1 Liter Electric Kettle (Kitchen)
I first became hooked on electric kettles when traveling in the U.K. and have kept putting off getting one. This is perfect for my six (O, heavens did I really say six!) cups of tea a day. Faster than the microwave (only because its actually boiled and hot) and no worrys about...did I leave the stove on as it has a brilliant auto shut-off. It even stays plenty warm enough to top off the first cup of tea. I love it, am only sorry it took this many years to indulge my self with such a simple product!

P.S -- Terrific on snowy days when the kids come in and want hot coco...FAST! (Makes one feel like SuperMom for the rare second or two!!! <g>)

1.0 out of 5 stars Strong, "plastic" taste won't go away, July 14, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Proctor Silex K2070Y 1 Liter Electric Kettle (Kitchen)
Have used the Bodum electric kettle for travel for years, but decided I'd purchase this Proctor Silex for the office since it was a few bucks cheaper. That was a mistake.

Despite boiling and dumping out the water a half-dozen times, the water itself STILL tasted like "plastic." Ick. As a tea drinker, the quality of the water is key. Also, I found the general shape difficult to handle, the lid was hard to open, and when gently pouring the water it consistently (and dangerously) sloshed out the sides near the spout.

Anyway, I ended up giving this one away and buying an additional Bodum electric kettle for the office. It's working great, just like the 10-year-old Bodum I take traveling. (I think it's also interesting to note that the classic, no-frills, usable design of the Bodum has remain unchanged in the past 10 years - Hey, if it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Use it Daily, August 10, 2009

I use my Sunbean Tea Kettle daily, and it works like a charm. I replaced a much older (expensive)tea kettle that I had for years with this one, and I have not been dissapointed. Some may say that the whistle isn't loud enough; however, for me that is a good thing because I had a 4 month old at home. It is loud enough to hear when I am close to it, but not loud enough to wake a sleeping baby.

For the price, I guarantee that you won't be dissapointed either (because I am pretty picky).

The tea kettle is ok but the whistling sound when the tea is boiling is very hard to hear. Also I thought the kettle was brushed chrome judging by the photos and was sought of dissapointed that is was bright chrome instead. All in all not a bad kettle for the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent value for price, but watch for hot handle!, October 28, 2009
By

This review is from: Sunbeam 2.5 Quart Stainless Steel Tea Kettle (Kitchen)
I've had this kettle for a little over three years, and it has certainly served it's purpose. We love the large size, as we frequently serve tea to guests. My biggest complaint however is that the handle flops over, and because of this the handle gets VERY hot. We have had friends burn their hands on it before we've had the chance to tell them they need to use a pot holder. Recently, water has started to leak from where the spout meets the kettle, but the fact that it has lasted this long with almost daily use means it's paid for itself many times over! Over all, it's not a bad buy, but I think we'll be spending the extra money to get a kettle that is less likely to injure us!
