Overall, the tea kettle does the job for a good price. Heated water on medium heat pretty quickly and it whistled, so overall I'm satisfied. I like the glass so that I can make tea right in the kettle without having to use additional containers. I did not have any plastic smell like others mentioned, but I also washed it before using it. Some things other buyers may want to know: 1) I was very interested in the cup measurements on the tea kettle as that would eliminate having to use measuring cups. However, the cup measurements are wrong. The 2-cup measurement at the bottom is correct. After that, the cup measurements show as increments of 2 cups (2, 4, 6, etc) but they are not accurate. For example if you want 5 cups, you have to fill to about the 9-cup level on the kettle. This also means it is not a 12-cup tea kettle as advertised. The most you can get in would be 7 cups which puts you above... I searched for a 12 cup glass tea kettle and came up with this one. It arrived today. I should have read the other reviews more carefully. The markings on the Kettle AND ON THE BOX state a volume of 12 cups and 2.5 quarts. It is a blatant lie.The correct label should be six cups, 1.5 quarts. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful Does the job, By NY Shopper (New York) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Whistling Tea Kettle by Kennedy Home Collections (Kitchen) I gave this teapot four stars because it does what it's supposed to do....it boils the water. However after using it at least ten times I find myself asking "why is it I can whistle louder then the teapot?" I have very good hearing but if I'm in the living room with the television on I can barely hear the whistling when the water is ready. I mean you can hear it but only if you're really paying attention and waiting to hear it if that makes sense. Another reviewer stated that the cup measurements gauge on the pot is wrong, the reviewer is right about that. So I used a separate two cup measuring cup filled with water and poured the water into the teapot and it did come right up to the two cup level on the pot. However when I poured another two cups of water into the pot instead or registering "four cups" it went right up the "six cup" level. Two more cups of water and you guessed it the pot now read "ten cups" instead of "eight cups" As one who just eyeballs the amount of water needed... Read more |
