The handle does get quite warm on this if you have the flame on high and the kettle is full (i.e. heating for a while), but not hot enough to burn me. The whistle is not too loud which might be bad for some folks, but I actually prefer a quieter whistle. The button to open the spout is in a good spot and easy to use. All in all, good kettle. The metal is pretty thin and it feels flimsy, but it got the job done. You definitely need a potholder to take it off the stove, the handle gets far too hot.Finally, I just noticed that the plastic around the whistle is melting each time it heats up. This isn't because I've left it whistling for minutes on end. I'm usually pretty good at taking it off the stove quickly. Still, the plastic is all melty and deformed now.
