(Esp. after living with a plain serviceable one after my last 'quality' one burnt out). Perfect for a single or small household and small spaces. Brings a bright touch to a kitchen with limited natural light. Plug-in whistle is easy & safe to remove and reasonable to replace. The handle feels good and solid to the touch, and does not get hot. Whistle is easily audible in next room with door closed and not too shrill. The kettle pours me about three mugs or four cups. The kettle is not cheaply made although inexpensive and so gives pleasure. I am happy with the purchase.P.S. The manufacturer recommends using low to med heat (I use medium sometimes med-high) but happily it does not seem to take long to boil. Do not allow gas flames to lick the sides or it will scorch (removable but who wants to scrub?) I should have done more research! It takes longer than other kettles I've had, since you MUST use medium heat. Since I boil water every day, I often forgot, and if you turn it up high the enamel melts to the electric burner. I found it too difficult to remove the whistle every time so I would leave it off, and even a slight bit of overfilling and it will boil out all over the place.
